155 classic cars on a pleasure trip

Three pillars support and characterize the Black Forest Rally for connoisseurs in Baiersbronn: scenic diversity, sporting challenges and culinary delights. When the engines roar again over three days on the last weekend in September and the drivers of the classic cars set off on a journey of around 500 kilometers, they will discover the many facets of the Black Forest and Ortenau.

History of the Baiersbronn Classic

The Second World War is history, but the aftermath is still very much in evidence. People lack everything. The need to enjoy a few carefree hours at least occasionally is correspondingly great.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the newly founded South German Motor Racing Association and the support of the French military government, the almost impossible was achieved: In 1946, Baiersbronn brought the Ruhestein mountain race, the first motorsport event after the war, to the Black Forest.

On Sunday, July 21, 1946, motorsport history is written in the Black Forest region around Baiersbronn. Despite destroyed roads, petrol shortages, difficult travel conditions and a dramatic spare parts situation, the Ruhestein mountain race for motorcycles and sports cars actually takes place. Great enthusiasm, even more idealism and creative engineering skills overcame all adversity.
